30 - 30 posts, 30 followers = give-away!

To thank you for all your support I would like to hold a little give-away. Nothing hugely special but a way to give back since you have all been so amazing! I can't believe how great the fatshion blog movement is, and is now such a key way for me to have confidence and acceptance about how I look. All of you are such an inspiration too, in so many ways!

Includes:
A glittery lightweight leopard print scarf, two hair bows - one navy, one purple, an little adorable smiling cupcake necklace, and two eye crayons - plum and nude (I got some for me too and they're so creamy and lovely!)

All I would like you to do is follow me and leave a comment. Open to everyone. I'll pick a winner next Sunday, 5 September!

29 - Reworking Asos Pieces

I've noticed that on quite a few blogs people only show special outfits or new pieces they have gotten, so I wanted to show what I wore today by reworking two recent Asos Curve items - the coral skirt and the leopard cardigan. I am a student and can't afford new clothes all the time, so I do wear what I have again and again, as I'm sure most people do. Sometimes I wear things in different ways, and sometimes, I just repeat whole outfits! Blasphemy, I know. But here's how I wore those two pieces differently.. and together! Please excuse my face, it doesn't seem to want to co-operate in pictures. Also, check out or pepper plant! Cool, right? I can't remember what kind of peppers they are, the boy said that they are spicier than jalapenos though! I loove spicy food :)

Cardigan, leggings and skirt: Asos Curve
Top: Old Navy
Belt: Evans
Sunglasses: Forever 21 (only $3 online!)
Shoes: Marks and Spencer
Flower hair clip: H&M

I'm going to try and post outfits of reworked items more frequently, to show how it's easy but also to show how fashion doesn't have to be all about consumerism. Now, obviously I buy things, and I like buying things, but often that isn't feasible for me and many others, so being able to wear items over and over is fabulous!

28 - Give-away soon!

Hi lovelies!

I wanted to say that I am collecting cute things for a give-away soon. I'm not sure if I should wait until I get more followers or just until I have a good amount of things to gift. We'll see, but I'm sure it will be quite soon! I am so grateful to anyone who is reading my blog, and for all your lovely comments, and for all the inspiration I get from all your blogs too! I just want to share the love a little :)

27.

Not a very exciting outfit today. But the hair, oh the hair! I blow dried (blew dry? uhhh whatever) last night up and in a very 80s style. I was watching La Roux videos yesterday and although I am not entirely convinced by her music there was something about her and her style that really intrigued me. I love that she is so not overly feminine. I'm so bored of prissy, skinny little pop stars with long, wavy hair. Pretty.. uhh, yeah, I suppose, but oh so boring!

Sorry about the terrible photos, my photog wasn't around and my camera is sooo awful, definitely investing in a new one soon!

I need some more graphic and strong pieces in my wardrobe, nearly everything I own is girly and light colours. I'll see what I can put together for tomorrow.

Does anyone have any challenges going on for September? I need inspiration for styling, as I feel like I'm so boring these days. Anyone want to do something together? Have a back to school challenge or something? E-mail me at elizabeth.o.no.blog (at) gmail.com or comment here if you do! We should definitely get something on the go! :)

26 - BBQ Outfit

I went to a family bbq thing last night at the boy's sister's house. It was fun! A lot better than I was expecting anyway. They roasted a whole pig!

Anyway, I wore this...

I feel like it looked better in person, haha. I wanted to be relaxed and a little more masculine, a little hillbilly maybe rockabilly. We were in the country after all! But ugghh, these pictures are horrid, my face looks so strange hah, like my eyes magically shrunk or something! But anyway...

I wore..
Shirt - Alfred Sung Pure+
Tank - Asos Curve
Jeans - Reitmans
Shoes - Evans

I love the accessories I was wearing! The scarf, which has cute little scotty dogs on it!, is from TopShop, quite a few years back though. My little birdie earrings, bracelet and ring are all from this fantastic little store in downtown Halifax called the Black Market. It's amazing for cute, quirky pieces of handmade jewellery. If you're ever in Halifax GO, it's fabulous :)

25 - Terrible OOTD

Ughhh so I wore this today. I kind of hate it. I felt pretty uncomfortable all day. Physically, I was comfortable, but.. well, you know how it is sometimes. Any ideas how I can make this outfit better for me - looks wise and comfort level wise?

Cardigan - Inspire at New Look
Top - Faith 21 at Forever 21
Skirt - H&M
Leggings - Old Navy
Shoes - Marks & Spencer

Getting used to styling short hair is so strange. The boy and I are going to a family (his side) BBQ tomorrow so I thought I might either try out with diffusing the long part of my hair. Orrr I've been very inspired by Peppi from More to Love recently too. I love her hair here, here and here... (I hope she doesn't mind me borrowing her pictures!)

Hmm, maybe I'll try a pompador, a big bow, or a scarf tomorrow!

Oh, and does anyone know where I can get a pair of black suede/velvet wedges like these below, but for a little less $$$ and maybe made for a wider foot? I have been coveting this style for ages! These ones are from Asos but are a tad (red: lot) too expensive for me at the mo!

24 - Question Time

The lovely Anika of Sweetfaced Style posed these 8 questions to me and some other bloggers, so I will answer them! And if you haven't already, check out Anika's blog, she is super adorable and the sweetest person ever. She recently featured me in a part of her "Spreading the Love" series highlighting bloggers :)

1 What is your happiest memory?
Simply hanging out with the boy and feeling totally at ease, relaxed and loved.
2 What is your passion?
I'm really not sure. I'm not sure if I have a passion. I enjoy learning nerdy things like history, and reading, decorating and doing crafts, oh and eating. Not sure if any of these are really my passion though. Hmm..
3 What would you do if you had the guts to?
I have no idea! Lots of things probably. Although my confidence is increasing as I accept my body more and more, I'm still pretty shy in social situations. I'd like to be more outgoing.
4 Do you smile at strangers?
Yes, definitely!
5 What pisses you off?
Ignorance, political conservatism, rudeness.
6 What makes you laugh out loud with joy?
Goshh... my boy, Arrested Development, my best friend, my family.. lots of things!
7 What is the best choice you have made this far in life?
Getting over (or at least I am on the road) to accepting my body and myself for what it is. Orrr.. taking a year off after high school, working at a resort and meeting my boy? Not sure!
8 What is the one question you secretly want to be asked?
Elizabeth, you are so awesome, how can I be like you?
Ahaha.

I'm going to tag... but don't feel like you have to do this if you don't want to! These girls have some of my favourite blogs :)
Monkey (sorry, not sure of your name!)
Iced Gem (sorry, I don't know your name either!)

My questions for you!
1. What is your favourite smell?
2. What is your favourite mode of transportation?
3. If you could only live in one country for the rest of your life, which country would it be, and why?
4. What is one thing that you absolutely have to do before you die?
5. How do you feel about a woman changing her name when she marries?
6. What is your favourite way of keeping up on current events?
7. If your significant other had a terrible habit that you couldn't stand, would you tell him/her?
8. How do you deal with body-negative people in your everyday life?

23 - Floral!

So I chopped my hair off, as you probably know. It's amazing! I absolutely love it. No regrets! I feel so much more mature and more confident, and even a little more powerful!

Today, I wanted to play up the short hair in a feminine way, so I wore this Dorothy Perkins floral tunic. I picked it up in the sale in June or July but never had anything to wear with it. Then I went thrifting last weekend and found this pink cardigan for a mere $5. The colour matches perfectly with the flowers.

Make-up wise I kept it super simple - a little Quo foundation, lots of rosey blush, Clinique raspberry lipstick, and mascara. I accessorized really simply too - pink pearls and a little cream bow in the hair :)

That's about it for today. The boy and I are about to go out to eat!

21 - Lusting Over Evans

I remember when I was growing up and Evans was always full of fuddy-duddy "mum" clothing. You know, typical fat woman clothing. However, since re-discovering it myself just this year, I have to say I'm impressed. The things they have online now, and the upcoming F/W lines, are amazing. I am definitely drooling over many things.

I made up two inspiration outfit ideas using only Evans clothing...

I just saw this absoloutely adorable giraffe sweater dress today and I am so in love. I ordered the boots last night and can't believe I missed out on this dress! I may have to order it anyway, it's fabulous!

This would be a pretty different look for me, but I think I really like it. The first look is well within my comfort zone, and this, maybe a little out, just because I don't usually wear tan.. Anyway, I love how the romantic nude lace dress would be anchored down by black leggins and long flowy cardigan. The tan accessories add in a little boho chic, and are a little less boring than black. Then layered necklaces would add to the dishelved but elegant overall look.

20 - Asos Curve #4

I am getting so terrible at this. I feel awful for not updating. I want to but I either wear some boring outfit, or wear a good one and can't get a decent photograph! Gahhh.

I wore this today... (check out our newly painted dining room! Sweet colour, right?)

Top: H&M
Skirt: Asos Curve
Cardigan: Joe Fresh
Leggings: Asos Curve
Necklace: Joe Fresh

Love the detail on the shoulders!

Sorry for the MySpace photo there at the end. I wanted to show off my new Monroe piercing! I just got it done last Friday so it's still kind of gross and swollen. I went through sooo much in the last week with this. The piercer put too small a labret in so it was super swollen around it. It was gross and so frustrating. So I changed it to a larger one (7/16" which is what it was supposed to be in the first place, gawwwddd) and although it is still healing, it looks a tonne better! I think it looks pretty good. What do you guys think?

Oh so I was wearing the coral skirt from Asos Curve. Coral is such a new colour for me and I wasn't sure how to wear it, but I was then inspired by Stiletto Siren and Too Many Cupcakes. I have to say I did feel like a ballerina all day. This skirt is so flowy and lovely. It sits like a dream and moves amazingly! I just wore plain black ballet flats on ma feeets.

Anyway, not much else is new, my work term at the museum ends in the next few weeks, then it will be relaxing before school starts again. I have all my classes chosen and I'm pretty excited for them, they're pretty much all women's studies and history, haha. Can't wait!

19 - New Hair?

Hello dears.

So I've been thinking for a while that I really want to cut all my hair off. Cut it off into a cute little pixie do with a longer fringe. I think it would be adorable. I had a similar style in 2005, which I actually DIY'ed, haha. I loved it! Here's a couple pictures....

I look at lot different in these pictures. Mainly because I was unhealthily skinny (for my body) and I was just about to turn 16. I think it was pretty much exactly 5 years ago these pictures were taken actually! Crazy!

I was thinking about something like Michelle Williams' do. I love love love it.

The long bangs would allow me to play around with different styles - wear it forward, pinned back, swept to one side, teased, etc. etc.

Some more inspiration...

So what do you think? Should I do it? Will my round heart shaped face suit it?

18 - Asos Curve #2 & #3

Hey there!

I wore a second new piece of Asos Curve clothing yesterday. It is the coral trapeze top. I picked it because I have this habit of when I go shopping of buying "pieces" but never basics. Do you know what I mean? So when I come to get dressed, I'll have an amazing skirt or dress, or jacket, but never, like, a top just to throw on. (Although on here it does seem like all I wear are tops and jeans, and I'm sorry, I'll try and rectify it this month!) Anyway, so I bought quite a few tops, and they were all quite reasonably priced!

I really love this top actually. I have never been one for coral, but now that I have red hair, I suit it so much better than when my hair was black. It's loose, flowy and light. I love it!

Cardigan - Old Nacy
Top - Asos Curve
Jeans - Reitman's (I really need to stop wearing these!)
Sandals - Evans
Necklace - TopShop
Belt - ?

So that's what I wore during the day. In the evening, we had a wedding reception to go to. I worked during the day so we didn't go to the ceremony, and the reception was pretty relaxed so I didn't dress up too much. All I did was wear the same top and jeans, added the leopard print cardi, also from Asos Curve, chunky heels from Evans, and put some make-up on. The clutch I picked up from Winners (the Canadian version of TX Maxx/TJ Maxx) a long time ago. I have no idea what brand it is..

The cardigan is so lovely! It is the perfect size (24) and shape, and it has a good weight to it, but isn't suffocatingly warm. It's long when left unbuttoned but sits on my hips when fastened. It nips in at the waist too, which is lovely. Does anyone have any other cardigans from Asos Curve? Do they all fit so well?

I know I'm wearing a lot of different colours that don't necessarily go together. But they work... right? Ahaha.

Oh and something weird happened to me yesterday too. I was working at the museum alone, when two male Chinese tourists came in. In the middle of chatting, one just goes "You are beautiful." Uhhh, okay. Hahaha, I was like "Thanks.... let me know if you have any questions." Then I scurried away. Flattering but so random and hilarious!

Anyway, that's about it for now. I need to go catch up on some blog reading :)
