08 - Another OOTD

Hello lovelies.

Another OOTD for you all. I need to broaden my blog posts, I know. I am busy busy these days now, working two jobs and whatnot. My brother's are also down visiting our little village and staying with the boy and I, so things are even more hectic!

We went up to my mum's last weekend, as my sister graduated and we had a little BBQ party thing on Saturday. I made my infamous spicy potato and sweet potato wedges, although they got a little burnt! Still yummy though.
So I wore this on Friday...

Top: George at Asda
Cardi: Joe Fresh at SuperStore
Jeans: Reitman's
Shoes: Payless
Necklace: Primark
Earrings: TopShop
Bag: Dorothy Perkins

I love this outfit, it's comfortable and still stylish. Also, all the pieces were reasonably cheap... like maybe $125 for everything. Not bad! Oh and excuse the mess, we haven't really hung our paintings yet. I actually just spray painted the frams there silver, so that's why!

I ordered a few things from Forever 21 on Friday and surprisingly, received them on Saturday! Unfortunately, I was less than impressed with most of the items I ordered. I will review them tomorrow, as I'm sure you all really want to hear.

I also ordered 3 pairs of shoes from Evans from during the sale. Including shipping the order only came to 37 quid, or... $59! That's so awesome! I hope they fit!

That's all for today, see you tomorrow xoxo

07 - Wedding Outfit Possibilities

Hello again! Two posts in one day. I was playing around for the first time on Polyvore and it is so much fun! I have a wedding to attend next month. It`s my boyfriend`s cousin` wedding. Here are two outfits I was thinking of. The first is more suitable for a cooler day, and the second, for a warmer day. With the first outfit, I have an adorable zebra print clutch from Payless that I would use, or a black patent quilted clutch. I just couldn`t find pictures of either, so you`ll have to use your imagination!

I love black, red and gold together! I already have the dress from Asos Curve, the necklace from TopShop (picked it up last month while I was in England for 2 quid!), and the red flats from George at Asda. I am in love with these owl earrings from Dorothy Perkins, but probably won`t get them. I do have some from TopShop here that I would probably wear instead. The red cardigan is from Faith 21 and I love the short sleeves, as it would bring a summer element to the outfit. However, I may just check out Old Navy for something similar this weekend. The heels are from Evans but I`m not sure about the ankle strap. I`m not sure about wearing heels at all actually! I`m 5`8``, so pretty tall, and the boy`s, Fred, family are all kind of short so I don`t want to be a beast, that`s why I included two shoe options - it all depends how brave I`m feeling!

I really love the colour combination of this outfit too - purples and cream, oh yes. I have this gorgeous lace dress from Asos Curve already (now on sale!), purple bag from DP, lilac flats from Payless, and gold belt (can`t remember where I got mine, as it was a few years ago, but this one is very close!). I think I will be ordering the heels from Evans tonight and the turtle necklace from Forever 21. All in all an adorable outfit, but may have to wear black tights with it, as the dress is a little short for me (mid-calf, eeek!).

Sorry this post is so long! Let me know what you think :)

06 - Expanding Bodies, Shrinking Sizes

Hello lovelies. No pictures today as I'm a little under the weather. I left work early and have been snuggled up in bed all day. I watched Away We Go for the first time, and it is such an adorable film. If you haven't seen it yet, I strongly recommend it :) I also watched Shaun of the Dead, which I've seen soooo many times, but still laugh so hard at - it really is hilarious!

Anyway, I've been thinking about clothing sizes lately. I've noticed that, in general, clothing sizes have been shrinking for the past little bit. I used to shop at Joe Fresh, which is designed by Joe Mimran (who started Club Monaco with Alfred Sung) and is sold in SuperStores here in Canada. I was a little smaller when it started and I began shopping there in 207 but used to comfortably fit into the large sizes and 16 jeans, sometimes even finding these too big. However, lately I can barely even fit into XLs and haven't been able to squeeze into their jeans in about 2 years. And okay, yes, I did put on a couple pounds but not a whole lot, and usually weight goes to my bum and thighs, so it explains the jeans... but not the tops. I can buy cardigans there and pajamas and that's about it! Oh well, I find their clothes aren't as nice these days anyway.

On her last visit to Canada earlier this year, my grandmother, who is usually an English 12, could not even fit into a cardi in an XL! She was also telling me how she had to go up to an 18UK in BHS. Astounding! She is the littlest little thing. If she has to buy an 18.. where does this leave the rest of us? Those that require larger sizes? Companies keep making measurements smaller and smaller... and as much as we love our bodies, continuously going up sizes does not make one happy! I was just reminded of this sad fact when I perused Faith21 for the first real time yesterday. F21`s main range sizing only goes up to a L which they say is a 11-12 and a waist measurement of 29 inches. Faith21 is also ridiculous. Since when was an XL a 12? Why should I have to buy a 3X and hope I squeeze into it? I have nothing against being a size 3X or anyone who is a size 3X, of course, but I`m just not a 3X. It hurts everyone when stores reduce their sizes like this. Many women will hate their bodies as they are forced to buy larger sizes... or nothing at all. Many will become angry and take their business elsewhere. And the stores will lose out on dressing gorgeous women.

Just a ramble for tonight. I`m going to my Mum`s tomorrow because my sister is graduating. Congrats Hannah Freya! I should have some nice outfit posts to put on here on the weekend. xoxo

05 - Glasses

Hello :)

I need help picking new glasses! I just started needing glasses about a year and a half ago, mostly for distance. I usually wear contacts but sometimes I just don't want too! My favourite pair of glasses are broken beyond repair (seriously, they have about a tonne of super glue on them) and I need to pick a new pair. On Annissa's blog here she talked about ordering from Zenni Optical, so I think that's what I will do too!

I want a normal-ish pair and a slightly crazy pair. Here's what I'm thinking...

Most normal of my picks is this purple pair as seen here.

Really adorable with the peacock feather detail on the side - but would this be noticeable enough? I love this pair though! See them here.

Half crazy, half normal - here.

Tortoise shell, found here. Not as crazy as the next two.

Zebra print, found here.

Giraffe (I think) print. Can be seen here. This would be crazy pair, I think!

If anyone could weigh in with some advice please do! Also, does anyone know what is up with the pupillary distance? It's not on my prescription and I'm not too sure how to measure it accurately... please help!

Oh, and on a personal note, I started my new job at a local heritage museum today. It seemed to go well, but was awkward, as it always is starting a new job. I'll be rooting around in the attic documenting artefacts so I probably won't have very many good OOTDs to post from that job, but maybe for my other job as well as weekends and whatnot.

Hope all is going well with you all! xoxo

EDIT: Shoooot, the pictures are so big! What do I doooo? I'm terrible at computers, sorry!

04 - Flowers!

Hello!

I have two OOTDs to post here. One from yesterday and one from today.

Yesterday, I wore my new slim fit jeans, black empire waist shirt from Asos Curve, and pink ruffle flats from Payless. I accessorized with large, gold heart earrings from H&M, and a gold belt, which I bought a long time ago... so I cannot remember where from... Urban Outfitters maybe.. It drizzled a little so my hair was gross. This shirt from Asos is great. It looks awesome with or without a belt, and is super comfortable and such a classic piece! I have it in both the white and black, and got such a nice surprise when I received the black one (Ibought it in white first) - it has pockets!! And they're both still available for sale on the website!

I was woken up today by the mailman and my order from Dorothy Perkins had arrived! Silly me ordered stuff about 2 weeks ago, I should have waited because now there is a huge sale on. Oh well, I did get 20% off everything which is still good! I got this gorgeous rose print skirt, a floral empire waist top, a purple handbag with chain, and another floral skirt with a big bow. The last skirt doesn't fit though, which is sad, so I suppose I'll have to send it back. So today I wore the rose skirt with black leggings from Asos Curve, a black cardi from Joe Fresh and simple black flats.

Isn't it lovely?? I did my nails last night and I think they turned out pretty well. I did a base coat (Sally Hansen Hard as Nails, which I adore) and then used a dark magenta (Rimmel 60 Seconds) and then a multipcoloured glitter polish (Sally Hansen) on top, followed by a top coat. My camera was pretty much incapable of getting any closer without some serious blur, unfortunately.

Anyway, it is taking some serious strong will to stay away from the sales that are going on right now at Evans and Dorothy Perkins. Torrid is having a sale too, and I really, really want these sandals, but apparently the shipping to Canada is $30, making the $20 sandals actually $50. Hmm, probably not going to happen.

Okay, well that's all for now :)

03 - Stripes, ruffles and Ned

Hello all :)

Just a quick update before I go to bed. I've been having a terrible few days as one of my wisdom teeth has decided to make a last ditch effort for freedom and push through my poor gums at the back, right hand-side of my mouth. It has been hurting so much :( so I'm suffering from such a lack of sleep.

On the up-side, I have a new job! I start Monday and it's at a little, local museum. I'm excited as my career goal is to work as a museum curator! So I've just been working at my other job the past few days. I work at the reception desk at a sports centre. (Oh my god, a fat girl working at a gym!!). My outfits are comfy and casual.

After work today, the boy and I went to see a movie. I did a little shopping beforehand and picked up two cute pairs of flats from Payless during BOGO. I'll post them in OOTDs soon! I also got an adorable zebra print clutch. Then I went to Reitman's (don't think it's anywhere but Canada). It's a good shop for decent quality casual basics. I got four pairs of trousers for $115, which I think is great. I found my first pair of straight-leg/skinnies that fit my enormous calves... and they were only $15. So naturally, I bought two pairs. I also bough a cropped pair of jeans, and a cropped pair of black trousers. The black pair is shorter than I would normally wear but I am trying them out. I need to break some of my self-imposed fashion boundaries anyway!
Anyway, that's all for now. I promise I'll post more interesting stuff soon :) Goodnight!

02 - It's Saturday!

Hi all and happy weekend! I'm here at my mum's in Halifax and it's gorgeous; so sunny and warm, but not too hot! Today I went out for sushi with the bff, the sister and the mother, and then shopping. Later, as the season calls for it, we are BBQing! Well, the boy, who is a chef, is doing it for us! Anyway, I got a fabulous new duvet cover with a bright, bold flower print. I love it and the boy says he will "deal," haha. I'm sure he will grow to love it too. I can't wait to get home tomorrow and set it all up. Just need to paint the bedroom, hang curtains and finish organising the closet and then we will be done! We just moved into our new apartment in May, but then went on holiday to the UK for three weeks, so haven't finished everything yet, but I'm working on it!

Here's what I wore today!

Top & Jeans: New Look Inspire
Cardigan: Joe Fresh
Shoes: Marks & Spencer's
Bag: H&M (stolen from the bff)
Teapot necklace: Accessorize

I swear, I look better in person! I am so not photogenic. I also apologise for the picture quality - I know they're not the best, but I just have a regular point and shoot digital!

I'm also wondering if anyone can recommend a new foundation for me. I am the palest of the pale, with cool undertones, so it is hard to find the right shade. Right now I'm using L'oreal True Match, but I find it very drying, and it wears off quickly (as I'm sure you can tell from the pictures). Can anyone help me?

I would like to say hi to the 2 people who are following me - thank you! The third is my sister so I suppose she doesn't really count, haha.

Love xoxo

01 - Hello!

Hello! I'm new to this whole blogging world, so please excuse me while I get it together! I'm Elizabeth and I'm a Scottish-Canadian living in Nova Scotia. I'm starting this blog because I love fashion, clothes and style and I'd love to get in contact with other fatshion bloggers while showcasing my fashion, clothes and style amongst other things.

Anywho, hopefully some people will read this blog and I won't just be talking to myself the whole time. As soon as I'm home and with my camera I'll post some OOTDs. However, for the time being here is what I wore today. It is now midnight so my make-up is all gone and my red face is showing through, haha, oh well!

Also, I'll hopefully start a blog shop soon too, so keep your eyes peeled!

Love, Elizabeth
